St Johns

I know that I don't update very often but I'm using my days off this week to look into cable internet. Once I have that, I'll be able to use the internet on days that I work also...

It was really nice to see the family this weekend. I had a good time. We worked on clearing the lot in Cedar Bay on Saturday. It was hot! I wasn't too smart and only had on capri's, my legs were pretty scratched up... We got a bit of work done, there is obviously still a ways to go but it was a start!

On Sunday Emily sat with me at church and fell asleep on my lap. There is something so innocent and precious about a sleeping child. I was thinking of being up here and missing out on those moments when the kids are at home. Then I read Michelle's blog today and realized that I am still blessed to be able to see the kids fairly often.

I can sympathize with her though, it's hard to be away from home even when it is your choice. When we have siblings as young as we do, we miss out on so much by not being there. That's why the pictures, letters and cards are so important!

I start my full-time hours next week. That will be nice to be able to have benefits. I know that I won't have much time so I am going to treat my days off this week as a mini vacation! I'm looking forward to relaxing and not having much to do!

New Job

I started training for a new job today. It was pretty boring, the usual videos and what-not that you are required to watch. In addition to selling cell phones, I will now be a home health aide. I'm not certified in anything so this means I'll be visiting with the elderly and cleaning for them. I'll probably have to bring some to doctor's appts and whatnot. We'll see how it goes. The extra money will be nice to have. I have the ambitions of finishing paying off school loans and car loans. Hopefully this will help.

It's been beautiful up here these past few days. Hopefully it stays 'summer' now and I get a chance to enjoy it between working two jobs. That's the plan anyway! I'm afraid I'll get burnt out by constantly running but I'm going to try it anyway.

Annette was at my place this weekend. I worked on Friday and Saturday so we didn't get to do much, but it was still nice to have the company. We had an intense game of Sequence on Friday and went to a bonfire on Saturday night. Let the summer begin!

I'm hoping to go to Green Bay this weekend. I have to talk to Kelli and make sure I'm still welcome, but we're planning on doing some garage-saleing. I'm hoping to find a bike. Aaron doesn't run with me, so I'm hoping that we can both get bikes. We'll see how that goes!

Summer plans and thoughts

I decided to try out this new online blog... We'll see how it goes! I like reading Michelle's to catch up with her, so I thought I would give it a whirl!

It's a beautiful day in the Copper Country. I am looking forward to getting my house in order. It feels so nice to have a place that is just mine after going the past nine months without having that. I've had good roommates and bad roommates, but the place I stayed at in South Carolina was definitely one I was glad to leave. It's funny how that works, I lived there for seven months and always felt like I was a visitor. So it's nice to have room for me.

I'm looking forward to the summer up here. I have so many plans, but I'm sure I will only end up doing a quarter of what I would like. Oh well, half the fun of summer is planning for it!

I got to spend time with Leigh while we were in Traverse City. That was nice. We haven't seen each other in about two years, so we had a good time catching up. She's the only person that I have kept in touch with from my graduating class. Can't believe it's been 5 years already. I remember graduating and thinking that by this point I'll have everything figured out- have graduated from college, have a job and be settled... Funny how things don't work out the way you imagine. Now that I'm older and wiser (with a large dose of sarcasm in that quote), I know better than to imagine where I'll be five years from now!
